About EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta)
Atlanta Motor Speedway, located in Hampton, Georgia, opened in 1960 and has hosted Cup Series races since its first season. The 1.54-mile oval was reconfigured in 2022 with steeper banking and a narrower racing surface, transforming it from a traditional intermediate track into a drafting-style superspeedway-like venue. Cup races at the reconfigured Atlanta produce pack racing similar to Daytona and Talladega, with large lead packs and frequent late-race shuffles, while still allowing drivers to manage tire wear and fuel strategy in ways pure superspeedways do not. Atlanta hosts two Cup races per year and serves as one of the season's most unpredictable events under its current configuration.
Atlanta was reconfigured in 2022 to mimic superspeedway-style pack racing, the only intermediate-length oval on the Cup schedule with that style of competition.
