Bristol Motor Speedway

Bristol Motor Speedway opened in 1961 as a half-mile high-banked concrete oval and has been one of NASCAR's most popular short-track venues ever since. Located in Bristol, Tennessee, the track's steep banking, among the highest of any short oval in the sport, combined with its short length and concrete surface produces unique side-by-side racing where cars run inches apart for 500 laps. Bristol hosts two Cup Series races each year: the Food City 500 in spring and the Bass Pro Shops Night Race in late summer, the latter held under the lights in front of one of NASCAR's largest grandstands at over 150,000 seats. Bristol's distinctive coliseum-shaped grandstand and intense short-track action have made it a fan favorite for decades.
