Circuit of The Americas opened in 2012 as the first purpose-built Formula 1 circuit in the United States and has hosted the F1 U.S. Grand Prix every year since. The 3.41-mile, 20-turn road course in Austin, Texas, joined the Cup Series schedule in 2021 as one of NASCAR's new road-course experiments and has remained a fixture since. COTA's signature feature is the dramatic climb into Turn 1, a 133-foot uphill braking zone that rivals any single corner in world motorsport for visual drama. The track also hosts MotoGP and IndyCar racing, making it one of the most heavily used purpose-built road courses in North America. Cup races at COTA tend to reward road-course specialists and drivers willing to accept genuine off-track excursions when their cars rotate aggressively through the technical infield section.
