The Daytona International Speedway Road Course is the 3.61-mile combined road-and-oval circuit used by IMSA sports-car racing at the annual Rolex 24. NASCAR pressed the road course into Cup Series service in 2020 as part of pandemic-era schedule rearrangement, with the original road-course Cup race replacing the canceled Watkins Glen weekend on the August schedule. The configuration uses a banked section of the famous tri-oval combined with a tight, technical infield road course featuring multiple chicanes and elevation changes. Cup raced at the Daytona Road Course twice, in August 2020 and again in February 2021 as part of Daytona Speedweeks. The road course returned to IMSA and other series use after 2021 and has not hosted Cup competition since.
Chase Elliott won the inaugural Daytona Road Course Cup race in August 2020, a wreck-shortened event that effectively guaranteed his playoff advancement on the way to his first Cup championship.
