Chicago Street Course

The Chicago Street Course debuted in 2023 as NASCAR's first true street circuit, running through the streets of downtown Chicago alongside Grant Park, the lakefront, and the Field Museum. The 2.2-mile, 12-turn temporary circuit is built fresh each summer, with NASCAR closing major Chicago thoroughfares and installing concrete barriers, catch fencing, and grandstands in the days leading up to the race weekend. The inaugural 2023 race was shortened by rain and won by Shane van Gisbergen in his Cup Series debut, an outcome that immediately validated the street-course concept and made Van Gisbergen a household name in NASCAR. The Chicago Street Race continues to be one of the most photographed and most-discussed events on the calendar.
