About Michael McDowell

Michael McDowell is an American NASCAR Cup Series driver competing for Spire Motorsports in the No. 71 Chevrolet. He made his Cup Series debut in 2008 as a rookie with Michael Waltrip Racing and has competed in the Cup Series consistently since then with multiple organizations including Front Row Motorsports, where he won the 2021 Daytona 500. McDowell joined Spire Motorsports for the 2024 season. He is widely regarded as one of the strongest road-course racers in the Cup Series and has earned additional wins at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
