Dover Motor Speedway

Dover Motor Speedway opened in 1969 as a one-mile asphalt oval and was repaved with concrete in 1995, becoming one of only two concrete ovals on the Cup schedule. Located in Dover, Delaware, the 24-degree banked surface produces some of the highest lateral forces of any current Cup track and is notoriously hard on equipment, brakes, and drivers across the full 400-lap distance. Dover's nickname, the Monster Mile, was coined for the way the track punishes any setup that drifts even slightly out of balance, and the concrete surface gives drivers very little of the rubber buildup that helps tires last on asphalt ovals. Dover has hosted Cup racing every season since its first race in 1969 and was the season-ending venue for the NASCAR All-Star Race in 2026.
