Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909 as the world's oldest continuously operating motor-racing venue and the home of the Indianapolis 500. Cup Series racing began at the 2.5-mile oval in 1994 with the inaugural Brickyard 400, named for the track's iconic yard of original bricks at the start-finish line. Cup competition moved to Indianapolis's 14-turn road-course configuration from 2021 to 2023 before returning to the original oval. Indianapolis is among the most prestigious venues in motorsports, and the Brickyard 400 is widely considered one of the Cup Series' crown-jewel events. Race winners traditionally stop at the start-finish line to kiss the bricks, a tradition borrowed from Indianapolis 500 winners.
